THE DECEASED PREFERENCE SERVICE

This is a completely free consumer service which allows relatives or friends to register the details of a deceased person online, by freephone or freepost.

The details are passed on to reputable organisations who use the information to stop unsolicited mail and for fraud prevention purposes. The data is also used by the major credit reference agencies to ensure that any credit applications made in the name of a deceased person are detected and prevented.

Both recent deaths and those which occurred in the past may be registered

CALLCREDIT

The pain and distress of losing a loved one can be made much worse by one of the fastest growing types of identity theft – deceased fraud, where a fraudster steals the identity of the deceased.

Provides free, confidential and independent advice from nearly 3,400 locations including in bureaux, GP surgeries, hospitals, colleges, prisons and courts.
